ABOUT THE JOURNEY

“Hi Im Drake.  My Dad is Dan Risis.  He works really hard and is always trying to teach me a lesson.  The jokes is on him because I know everything.  I am 8 years old so life is pretty Simple. The thing is, last summer I asked my dad for a lemonade stand and the next thing I know, im throwing wood into a fire at 5am!!!  What gives??  All I asked for was a lemonade stand. Can you imagine having my dad for a dad.  This guy is like clark Griswold on steroids!  Anyways, I don't have much to say since I'm in 3rd grade and this entire business is supposed to be a lesson my dad wants to teach me about life, money and wasting my time working when I can easily be a Youtube Star when I grow up.  Anyways, my favorite thing on the menu Is the Mac’ n’ Cheese and corn on the cob.  I really wanted French Fries but my dad explained to me its not really a BBQ thing and we own Toby’s cup and they have the best fries on earth so I'm ok with just the corn and Mac.  One day, I'll get the courage to try brisket since it really makes me really hungry when I smell it but I don't think I'm ready yet.  Dad says Brisket is for “Professionals Only”.  Once again, no clue what this means.  Well, enough of me but I really do hope you guys all enjoy “Drakes’s Joint” and one day, it will be me in front of the Smokers running THE SMOKE SHOW” 

 

“Hi, I'm Dan Risis.  Im good at some some stuff and bad at other stuff.  But what I'm really good at is making something out of nothing.  For 20 years, my passion has been professionally smoking and grilling so when I needed a “draw” to my Phillipsburg Antique Mall, I custom ordered from Texas some of the most Bitchin' two Smokers this side of the Mississippi.  Next thing I knew, I found myself at festivals and food trucks.  That really wasn't for me.  The whole thing is this entire business is designed to teach my boys a lesson about money in a world where no one really teaches you anything until you either fail…or are too scared to try.  I have two Boys, Drake and Pierce.  One Works really hard and the other one…Well, he is a very special boy with a big imagination and this business a part of his dream as much as mine.  In the past 6 months, we went from doing dingy food truck festivals and being the biggest ticket there to owning a few buildings and launching one of the most unique restaurant concepts in New Jersey.  We are the “New Food Truck”.  Every day, our kitchen is fully broken down and cleaned, prepped and refreshed.  We never leave anything on overnight and we NEVER serve you anything except the freshest BBQ possible.  Brisket takes at least 17 hours to slow smoke properly with an overnight saturation.  This labor is exhastive so I apologize for the prices and I wish explain why my groceries shopping doubled in price but I assure all my customers that the success of drakes joint is a perfectly balanced display of quality, price, and convenience.  Taste is not even a question.  If you don't LOVE YOUR FOOD, I am proud to give you your money back.

 

We stand behind ever tray we serve without a hesitation but be warned, our BBQ is addictive and you will find yourself craving more and more as you devour our homemade meats, fresh sauces and even our mustard is made from scratch.  Our BBQ sauce is a KC/Memphis mix with a Strong Carolina Kick so it is like NOTHING you have ever tasted before.  As the captain of this insane BBQ journey, I want to quickly state that we have no intentions to ever “franchise” or steal from the quality our customers have come to enjoy.
